Toronto Raptors Look to Succeed with Mix of Veterans, Emerging Stars
Isaiah Belleth is a Woodstock, ON resident who is pursuing certification at the Calvary Chapel Bible College and has a background competing in basketball and teaching at sports camps. An avid NBA fan, Isaiah Belleth follows the Toronto Raptors, who are positioning themselves for success in the 2021–22 season.
With offensive leader Kyle Lowry having been traded, the Raptors are looking to capitalize on the core strength of proven starters Pascal Siakam, OG Anunoby, and Fred VanVleet. Known for his mobility at the rim, incoming center Khem Birch will have his work cut out taking over the role of Lowry. In addition, Gary Trent Jr. has been added from the Trailblazers and gives the Raptors a “sniper” who adds a potent three-point threat, either starting or coming off the bench.
The Raptors have a dynamic young roster that includes 21-year-old Precious Achiuwa, who will be hoping to take Birch’s starting role at center. Scottie Barnes is a veteran producer, while former San Diego State star Malachi Flynn, who was mentored by Lowry and VanVleet last season, is seeking to emerge as a rotation-ready player. Fans are waiting to see whether he can be an offensive spark, engineering pick-and-rolls and threading pocket passes to players inside the paint.
